The bullpen in 2006 saw the addition of flame throwing closer Billy Wagner. Wagner saved 40 games and posted an era of 2.24 in his first year as a Met. Pedro Feliciano had an outstanding season as he finished the season with an era of 2.09 and 7 and 2 record in 64 games. Chad Bradford and Aaron Heilman also had great seasons out of the bullpen.

During the off season the Mets signed outfielder Moises Alou to a one-year deal with an option for a second. They re-signed Jose Valentin, Guillermo Mota, and Orlando Hernandez. They declined the option on Tom Glavine and worked out a new contract with him. The Mets did not add any other big names during the off season.

In 2007 the Mets should be able to repeat and win the National League East again. On paper they have the best team in their division. As the pitchers in the starting rotation continue to age the Mets will have to keep them healthy all year if they hope to repeat.
